DPVA Chair praises General Assembly Democrats voting to advance budget measures to expand voting access

by Democratic Party of Virginia

Richmond, VA - Following votes by Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate to fast-track budget amendments pertaining to voting, including the establishing absentee ballot drop boxes and providing prepaid postage for absentee ballots, DPVA Chair Susan Swecker released the following statement:

"Democratic leaders in the General Assembly understand the urgency of the moment. They're taking concrete steps to ensure that Virginia will have the resources necessary to make voting as easy, safe, and effective as possible this year. The last thing we want is for rules and procedures to change after voting begins in less than a month. While Republicans are determined to set up as many roadblocks to voting as possible, Democrats will continue to fight for easier access to the ballot box regardless of whether Virginians choose to vote in person or by mail."
