NEW: Gillespie Supports Trump’s Paris Decision

Comes Day After Gillespie Visits Virginia Communities Most Urgently Facing Threat of Climate Change

Newest Position Adds to Long Line of Trump-Gillespie Policies

Adding to the growing list of policies promoted by President Trump, Ed Gillespie said today that he supports Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Accord.

This comes a day after Gillespie visited Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads, two Virginia coastal communities that are dangerously facing the environmental and economic threats of climate change.

Meanwhile, Republicans across the country are distancing themselves from Trump and recommitting their support for a low-carbon future. Republican Governor Charlie Baker of Massachusetts said today he would join the climate change initiative spearheaded by other Democratic governors, and Governor McAuliffe is taking action in Virginia to implement low-carbon standards through his “Clean Energy Virginia” initiative.

“Once again, Ed Gillespie is taking on another position of Donald Trump’s, and neither the President nor Gillespie are offering any solutions for Virginia,” said DPVA spokeswoman Christina Freundlich. “A vote for Ed Gillespie is a vote to bring Donald Trump’s anti-science agenda to Virginia.”
