What Virginians Want to Hear from Trump at Tonight’s Debate

by Democratic Party of Virginia

RICHMOND - Ahead of tonight’s debate, Virginians are demanding answers from Donald Trump about the economy, climate change, support for our military, and his efforts to repeal the ACA with no plan to protect the 3.5 million Virginians with pre-existing conditions.

"Unfortunately, Virginians who are tuning into the debate tonight won’t hear any answers to the questions Trump has ignored about how he plans to support working people across the Commonwealth,” said Press Secretary for the Democratic Party of Virginia Hannah Muldavin. "The only question Trump has answered is how he plans to dismantle the ACA and take away health care for hundreds of thousands of Virginians. Virginians tuning in tonight won’t be fooled by the lies and broken promises Trump will most certainly regurgitate.”

What Virginians Want to Hear from Donald Trump at Tonight’s Debate

Virginia women make 79 cents for every dollar paid to a man, creating a wage gap of $12,000 a year.

DONALD TRUMP: What plans do you have to close the gender wage gap, which results in Virginia women losing out on more than $24.1 billion in earnings every year?

Norfolk and Hampton Roads are in severe danger of flooding because of rising sea levels due to climate change, leaving the second largest city in Virginia and its most vulnerable communities at risk.

DONALD TRUMP: When will you stop denying that climate change is real and taking actions like withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accords, which hurt American job creation and ceded important international leadership and influence to China?

Trump pulled more than $77 million in planned military construction projects from Virginia in order to fund his unnecessary border wall.

DONALD TRUMP: When will you start caring about members of the military, military veterans, and their families instead of calling them ‘losers and suckers’ and diverting money from important military construction projects for your own political benefit?

470,000 Virginians got Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion, and 3.5 million Virginians with pre-existing conditions gained protections from the ACA.

DONALD TRUMP: What is your health care plan if you’re successful in striking down the Affordable Care Act in a lawsuit the Supreme Court will hear a week after the election? What will those who gained access through the ACA do for health care?

Nearly 270,000 Virginians are out of work today, with the unemployment rate in Virginia nearly two times higher year on year under Trump’s economy.

DONALD TRUMP: How can you say the economy is ‘the best in the world’ if you are the worst jobs president in modern history?
