The Virginia Democratic Coordinated Campaign is the Democratic Party of Virginia’s statewide electoral effort to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in 2017.
The Coordinated Campaign’s grassroots infrastructure will span statewide in all 95 counties and will work to energize and empower local communities in support of electing the next Democratic governor and the Democratic ticket.
We invite you to participate in our unpaid fall fellowship program, which is designed to provide the next generation of leaders with practical experience in political organizing. Working under the supervision of Coordinated Campaign staff, Fall Fellows will be responsible for various tasks focused on community engagement. Much of their work will focus on recruiting, training and managing volunteers. Fellows will also participate in voter contact, working to persuade and mobilize voters to turn out for the Democratic candidates up and down the ticket.
This position will be based across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Applicants should be available to devote a minimum of 10 hours a week to the Fellowship Program. The fellowship is unpaid but we are happy to comply with any necessary paperwork for course credit. Applicants should have a laptop and cell phone.
THE ORGANIZING FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM WILL INTRODUCE FELLOWS TO:
- Engaging in political messaging and persuasion conversations with voters through
door-to-door canvassing and phone calls
- Recruiting and developing relationships with volunteers and executing volunteer-led
phone banks and canvasses
- Basic logic of electoral organizing and how organizing programs are developed

- Organized and skilled at managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Interest in learning about campaigns and strong commitment to Democratic values
