Washington Insider and gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie found himself in Cleveland this week to show his support for Donald Trump...and he's taking his passion for the GOP nominee back to Virginia for a "Real Insider's Briefing" on the RNC.
That's right: the ultimate Washington Insider will be holding a debrief on the RNC and Donald Trump....even though he has repeatedly dodged questions on that very topic.
We can't imagine what Gillespie be talking about at his "Real Insider's Briefing" but we can guess what he won't be talking about:
Why he still hasn't condemned Trump on his offensive comments and rhetoric?
What he thinks about Virginia Republicans' convention walk out?
Whether or not he'd veto a Mike Pence-style anti-LGBT bill in Virginia?
Whether or not he still believes "conventions 'tend to be unifying events"?
BACKGROUND:
On June 2nd, Trump said he was Judge Curiel’s Mexican heritage was an “inherent conflict of interest” because the candidate was “building a wall.” Judge Curiel was born in Indiana.
On June 9th, Gillespie’s campaign was asked what the candidate thought of Trump’s remarks and declined to answer.
On June 15th, Gillespie declined to participate in an interview regarding Donald Trump's visit to Richmond and implications for 2017.
On June 18th, Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam called out Ed Gillespie and Rob Wittman's silence during a speech at Democrats' state convention.
Ed Gillespie said in a recent interview: “It’s very important that we help Donald Trump carry the Commonwealth."
It's been 49 days since Gillespie failed to tell Virginia voters where he stands on the racist remarks of the presidential candidate he will support.
