Interns with the Democratic Party of Virginia will gain experience with the functions of a state political party. This is a unique opportunity to gain real-life experience in Democratic politics.
This position is in person and based in Richmond, Virginia. Unfortunately, remote applicants will not be considered for this opportunity. College credit will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
The position will be compensated on an hourly basis with a rate of $15/hr for 10-20 hrs per week.
Description:
- Interns will be placed in departments and provide general staffing support to department heads
- Specific job requirements vary based on the different departments within the Democratic Party of Virginia
- Interns will be managed by those in their department
Requirements:
- Compensation is $15 an hour; this is a part-time internship
- Ideal candidates will have the desire to learn about the inner workings of a political campaign and a state political party
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week
- The position is in-person based out of the Richmond Office of the Democratic Party of Virginia
Department Descriptions:
Communications
- Social Media Management: Develop and schedule engaging posts for various platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) that align with our brand voice and objectives.
- Graphic Design: Create visually appealing graphics for social media, newsletters, and other digital channels using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
- Content Creation: Write and edit compelling stories, blog posts, and updates that feature our volunteers, supporters, and organizational achievements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our communications team to ensure consistency in messaging and brand representation.
Finance
- Event Planning: Contribute to the detailed planning, coordination, and successful execution of fundraising events.
- Donor outreach: Assist with reaching out to both existing and potential new donors through various communication channels to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Donor Research: Conduct research using online resources to identify and evaluate potential new donors.
- Assist with Thank You Notes: Provide support in drafting and sending thank you notes to donors.
