This week Joe Biden officially accepted the Democratic nomination for President of the United States of America — and we don’t have a moment to waste making him the 46th POTUS
It has been an honor to chair Virginia’s Delegation. I want to thank all of the delegates, volunteers, staff, and members of our committees who put in countless hours to make this virtual convention possible. Over the past few days, the DPVA Team and I had the pleasure of hosting so many dedicated and inspiring Democrats at our virtual morning breakfasts, virtual happy hours and other get-togethers. Leaders from across the Commonwealth and country took time out of their day to speak to our delegation, answer questions, and share their advice on how to win in November.
We all knew this was going to be a different kind of convention, but the past four days have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that Democrats are united, excited, and determined to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in November. If there was one common theme that tied together every speaker’s message it was this: vote like your life depends on it. This convention was more than a celebration of the historic ticket of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, it was an inspiring call to action. With just 74 days until Election Day, I’m ready to work harder than ever. See you on the campaign trail!

An Unusual Convention
Early in the process, the DNC, the Convention Committee, and the Biden Campaign knew that COVID-19 was going to affect this year’s Democratic National Convention. They made the unfortunate, but fully appropriate, decision to first push the convention back a month and then move it to a fully virtual convention — the first convention of it’s kind.
Despite our delegations being unable to be in Milwaukee, or maybe because of it, Democrats around the country put on a show, working together with other states to create four days packed with events and speakers and the happy hours we come to expect at conventions.
Partnering with Biden for Virginia and the ASDC Southern Caucus, the DPVA put on 14 events over the course of the Convention’s four days, with speakers from California to New Jersey and many places in between!
