DPVA Calls on Trump to Postpone Florida Trips to Save Chesapeake Bay

by Katie Baker

Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker today called on President Donald Trump to forgo his Mar-a-Lago vacations until September in order to save the Chesapeake Bay:

“Among the many draconian cuts in Donald Trump’s budget was the entire elimination of the Chesapeake Bay Clean-Up Fund, which stands at $73 million. To put that in perspective, as of February, only one month into the Trump presidency, Donald Trump’s trips Mar-a-Lago Trips were already estimated to cost the taxpayers $10 million. At that rate, he will have cost working people more than $100 million by the end of the year simply to fund his vacations. Simply put, if Donald Trump postponed his Florida vacations until September, he could save the Chesapeake Bay.”

Del. Mike Mullin of the 93rd House District will lead a rally Saturday at 10 a.m. to Save the Bay in Williamsburg’s College Landing Park. More information about that event can be found on Del. Mullin’s Facebook page.
