Sears has repeatedly refused to speak up against Trump’s Medicaid cuts that threaten access to affordable healthcare for more than 200,000 Virginians
VIRGINIA – Ahead of the June 17 primary in Virginia, the Democratic Party of Virginia is launching a new series to remind Virginians of the top five reasons Winsome Earle-Sears is too extreme to lead the Commonwealth.
Today is a reminder that Sears has repeatedly refused to oppose Donald Trump’s Medicaid cuts which would result in more than 200,000 Virginians losing their insurance.
“As Republicans in Congress carry out Trump’s agenda threatening cuts to Medicaid and putting thousands of Virginians’ access to affordable healthcare at risk, Winsome Earle-Sears has stayed silent instead of speaking out against the cuts. Sears must answer why she won’t stand up for Virginians,” said DPVA Spokesperson Maggie Amjad.

- Sears has repeatedly refused to comment on the cuts to Medicaid.
- The Sears campaign even ejected a reporter from a campaign event to avoid discussing Sears’ position on Medicaid.
- When local leaders and Virginians called Sears out saying “her silence speaks volumes,” Sears declined to comment and the Daily Progress reported that the “Earle-Sears’ campaign has declined multiple interview requests on the subject from multiple news outlets, and the campaign did not immediately respond to a Daily Progress inquiry.”
- When asked about the Medicaid cuts, Sears told reporters “I don’t want to comment yet about things that aren’t set in concrete.”
