BREAKING: Virginia’s Unemployment Rate Drops Below 4% Under Democratic Leadership

by Democratic Party of Virginia

Under the leadership of Governor McAuliffe and the support of Virginia's four other statewide Democrats and Democrats at all levels, Virginia's unemployment rate is at 3.9 percent - the lowest since June 2008.

While Republicans try to diminish Governor McAuliffe's and Democrats' economic progress, they struggle when it comes to the facts. For example, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley falsely attacked Virginia's economy, but failed to mention that South Carolina's unemployment rate is 5.8 percent - up from 5.7 percent on Wednesday during her Virginia visit.

"Governor McAuliffe's leadership, job creation, and commitment to fighting for Virginians has bolstered Virginia's economy and created the lowest unemployment rate since 2008. We must fight to elect Democrats at all levels in Virginia to build upon and continue this progress," said Emily Bolton of the Democratic Party of Virginia. "Republicans talk a big game on the economy, but they've held Virginia back with divisive anti-LGBT bills that are bad for business, refusal to raise the wage, and proposing tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy."
