Corey Stewart Praises Child Separation as 'Correct' Policy; Comstock, Brat, Taylor Remain Silent

Stewart goes all in for ripping kids from parents while VA's GOP Members of Congress refuse to call for Trump to immediately stop practice

This week, the standard-bearer of the Virginia GOP, Corey Stewart, strongly defended the Trump administration's inhumane and cruel family separation policy. He told WUSA9 that Trump's child separation policy "is correct" and told MSNBC that separating kids from their parents at the border is "what's best for American workers." Virginia Republican Members of Congress Barbara Comstock (VA-10), Dave Brat (VA-07), and Scott Taylor (VA-02) have refused to break from Stewart’s stance on the issue as none have called for President Trump to immediately end this immoral and draconian practice.

Stewart, whose ties and sympathies to alt-right hate groups are well known, has shocked nobody in his support of Trump’s child separation policy. And after more than a week of silence on whether they will campaign with Corey Stewart, it comes as no surprise that Representatives Comstock, Brat, and Taylor lack the moral courage to break with Stewart and forcefully call on President Trump to end the humanitarian crisis at the border and cease ripping kids from their parents.

While Comstock, Brat, and Taylor have offered empty words of sympathy, their refusal to directly challenge President Trump puts them squarely in line with their ticket-leader, Corey Stewart.

DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker condemned the Stewart-Comstock-Brat-Taylor callousness and called on Virginians to reject their complicity in Donald Trump’s savage attack on young children.

“Corey Stewart is who we thought he was. And now it is clear… Barbara Comstock, Dave Brat, and Scott Taylor are Corey Stewart. They refuse to answer whether they’ll campaign with Corey and they refuse to call on President Trump to immediately end the separation of children from their families at the border. They are all together on the wrong side of history. Virginians deserve better.”
