On January 13th, Delegate Elizabeth Bennett-Parker won the Democratic nomination for Senate of Virginia District 39 being vacated by Senator Adam Ebbin, who has been nominated to serve in Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger's administration. With the special election set for February 10, 2026, Delegate Bennett-Parker will begin her general election campaign.
Democratic Party of Virginia Chairman, Senator Lamont Bagby, issued the following statement about the results:
“Delegate Elizabeth Bennett-Parker has already demonstrated through her work and leadership in the House of Delegates that she is deeply committed to serving Virginians and working to fix the kitchen table issues families face.
She has consistently championed issues like affordable housing, accessible childcare, public education, and common-sense gun safety. This makes her an outstanding choice to continue serving in the Senate, and I look forward to serving alongside her to build a more affordable, equitable, and prosperous Virginia.”
