He was a stalwart advocate for rural communities and a cherished member of the Democratic family. Hailing from Dublin, Virginia., Keister's impactful contributions as a former mayor, dedicated science teacher, and esteemed community leader have left an indelible mark on the Commonwealth.

"Benny was not only a dedicated public servant but a true champion for rural Virginia," said Susan Swecker, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Virginia. "His unwavering commitment to serving his constituents in Richmond, coupled with his devotion to public education and community service, made him a force to be reckoned with.
