Richmond, VA – Today, the Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker issued the following statement after judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed by a bipartisan U.S. Senate vote to the Supreme Court. 

“Judge Jackson is the daughter of public school teachers, has served as an accomplished lawyer and public defender, a distinguished federal judge, and now will be a historic member of the Supreme Court. Today’s bipartisan Senate vote not only adds a brilliant legal mind with the utmost character, integrity, and understanding of the law to our nation’s highest court, but will also make the Supreme Court better reflect the diversity of Virginia and our nation. The Democratic Party of Virginia commends Senator Mark Warner and Senator Tim Kaine for voting to confirm Judge Jackson’s historic nomination.”
