Democratic Party of Virginia Celebrates Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today, the Democratic Party of Virginia celebrates Martin Luther King Day, which this year falls on what would have been Dr. King's 89th birthday.
“The lessons Martin Luther King taught us are more valuable today than ever before, ” said DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker. “Between the hate and loss of life we saw in Charlottesville to the daily demeaning statements of President Trump, it is important for Democrats, Virginians, and Americans to remember Dr. King's humility, courage, and grace in the face of bigotry and violence. We can all take a page out of Dr. King's book and seek to bring love, light, and justice into the world. ”
