Richmond, VA — Over a month after Terry McAuliffe’s invitation, Glenn Youngkin is still hiding from critical debates where he would have to answer questions about the issues that matter most to Virginians. Youngkin has spent weeks hiding from difficult questions, running away from reporters, and lying to Virginians about his extreme agenda. 

Now, Glenn is refusing to join Terry McAuliffe at the AARP’s gubernatorial debate in Richmond. In response to the news that Glenn will continue to avoid defending his abysmal track record and answering for his toxic, far-right agenda, DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker released the following statement:

“Glenn Youngkin has spent months hiding from Virginians and refusing to answer questions about his dangerous agenda. Now, his shameful refusal to join Terry at yet another traditional debate is further proof that Glenn is terrified of defending the views he knows are too extreme for Virginia and come clean about his abhorrent track record. 

Virginians deserve to hear Glenn answer for his far-right plans to decimate Virginia’s public safety and education, ban abortion, restrict voting rights, undermine President Biden’s economic recovery, and his opposition to Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.

Glenn Youngkin must stop hiding.”
