Richmond, VA —DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker issued the following statement over Governor Youngkin and Republican House Leadership holding over 1,000 appointments made by the previous administration, and the looming government shutdown in the Commonwealth:

“What Governor Youngkin and Republican leadership have done today is nothing short of political destruction. Governor Youngkin and his Republican allies are willing to hold up Virginia's entire government over a corrupt Trump political appointee. Playing politics with civil servants like this who have kept our Commonwealth functioning is reckless, negligent and will set a new precedent for a path of political destruction. We immediately call on Governor Youngkin and Republican leadership to confirm these appointments in order to keep Virginia working.”
