DPVA Statement on President Trump’s Visit to Virginia

Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker released the following statement on Donald Trump’s Visit to Virginia today:

“In the past 42 days of his presidency, Virginians have watched a Republican president tear families apart, roll back regulations that hurt working families and put the interests of the wealthy over those of the middle class. Furthermore, not a day has gone by that this administration hasn’t been riddled with scandal, falsehoods and misinformation that is putting our country’s national security and economic well-being at stake. Just today, we learned that Attorney General Jeff Sessions may have misled the Judiciary Committee about alleged meetings with officials from the Russian government. This is deeply disturbing news, and Sessions should immediately recuse himself from the investigation and be made to answer to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“Republicans like Ed Gillespie and Corey Stewart aren’t safe when they are running in the shadow of Trump, and the entire GOP field needs to separate themselves from the divisive and dangerous policies that are hurting the economic and national security of Virginia.”
