DPVA Statement on the Presidential Commander-in-Chief Forum

by Democratic Party of Virginia

The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) Chairwoman Susan Swecker released the following statement in response to tonight’s Commander-in-Chief forum featuring Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton:

"We are 62 days away from Election Day and it’s clearer than ever that Donald Trump lacks the temperament, knowledge, and respect for American foreign policy to lead our armed forces and keep our country safe. Trump's recklessness on the campaign trail is a small glimpse into the risk he would pose to our standing in the world and his remarkable ignorance on national security matters poses a threat that cannot be ignored.

"Hillary Clinton has the knowledge, experience, and focus to serve as Commander in Chief, which was evident in tonight’s forum. When Hillary was in the Situation Room advising President Obama on key military issues, Trump was on reality television. When Hillary provides concrete plans to help our military and veterans, Trump calls our military a "disaster" and insults Gold Star families. The choice is clear. Virginia’s large military and veteran population can rest assured that Hillary Clinton will always fight for them.”
