Richmond, VA — As if the months he’s spent peddling deranged conspiracy theories and out-of-touch views on every major issue haven’t been enough, Glenn Youngkin has resorted to campaigning with Senator Ted Cruz (Cancún) in the final sprint before the GOP convention.
That’s right: Glenn Youngkin — who is campaigning on Donald Trump’s dangerous election conspiracies, opposing critical COVID-19 relief for working families and small businesses, and threatening to gut Virginians’ health care — is now working with Ted Cruz to try and win Saturday’s rigged convention. Not only does this reek of desperation, it is yet another testament to the fact that Youngkin is too extreme for Virginia.
As Cruz and Youngkin appear across the Commonwealth together in defense of their shared far-right politics, they also must answer three critical questions:
- Why are you threatening to gut Virginians’ health care coverage?
- Why did you oppose critical relief for Virginia working families and small businesses struggling in the face of this devastating pandemic?
- Why are you continuing to advance the dangerous election conspiracy theories that led to the insurrection on January 6th?
“This desperate campaign play is almost as pathetic and embarrassing as fleeing your state to go on vacation when your constituents need you most,” said Manuel Bonder, DPVA spokesman. “Glenn Youngkin campaigning with Ted Cruz is just another demonstration of how out-of-touch and committed to Donald Trump’s extremism he truly is. Every hour Ted Cruz spends in Virginia, the harder it will be for Republicans to win in November.”
