Richmond, VA — It’s not often that we compliment Glenn Youngkin and his flailing campaign, but it’s Friday, so we will: this week, they did an outstanding job keeping Virginians focused on his extreme right-wing agenda. From his support for Trump’s dangerous election lies, to his growing anti-vaccine track record and willingness to bankroll antisemitic attacks, Youngkin is working overtime to remind voters how wrong he is for Virginia.

Glenn Doubles Down on Trump’s Election Conspiracy Theories

Glenn began the week getting hammered for his refusal to say whether or not he would have certified the election on January 6th. As reported by Axios: 

[Youngkin] wouldn’t say whether he would have voted to certify the election on Jan. 6 if he were a member of Congress.

This latest foray is a reminder that Glenn Youngkin is all in on Donald Trump and his most dangerous election conspiracies. Youngkin launched his campaign with an “election integrity task force,” which he has called the “most important issue” in this campaign. Youngkin spent months lying about the 2020 election and is committed to the hardline Republican agenda of restricting voting rights.

Earlier this summer, Youngkin headlined an insurrectionist-sponsored “election integrity” rally. This came after Youngkin suggested that the disgraced former president could be reinstated into office.

Glenn’s Anti-Vaccine Track Record Grows 

This week, new reporting highlighted Youngkin’s growing anti-vaccine record as it was discovered that Youngkin’s new ads feature Virginians who have publicly embraced anti-mask and anti-vaccine rhetoric.  

Then, when asked about supporting requirements for other vaccines at Tuesday night’s debate, Glenn Youngkin stumbled to find an answer before reverting to his right-wing talking points that spread disinformation and cast doubt on the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.

After the debate, another report highlighted Youngkin’s outrageous refusal to support the vaccine requirements that keep Virginians safe and healthy. Then, Governor Ralph Northam slammed Glenn Youngkin’s extreme, anti-vaccine agenda and talked about what is at stake in this year’s governor’s race:

"Glenn has made it clear: he will not follow the science and show the leadership necessary to end this pandemic and keep our fellow Virginians safe."

"Throughout his campaign, Mr. Youngkin has been peddling this dangerous anti-COVID safety agenda, opposing and promising to repeal all vaccine requirements and rejecting CDC guidance for keeping Virginians and students healthy.”

"We cannot allow Glenn and his right wing, anti-COVID safety agenda anywhere near the governorship. The future of Virginia’s health, safety, and wellbeing is on the line."

Glenn and the Virginia GOP Continue Their Pattern of Blatant Antisemitism 

Glenn Youngkin and his Republican allies continued their pattern of blatant, despicable antisemitism this week when a mailer was sent to thousands of Virginians and targeted Del. Dan Helmer –– who is Jewish and a descendant of Holocaust survivors –– with offensive age-old tropes and stereotypes. As illustrated by The Washington Post’s Editorial Board:

Antisemitic stereotypes, tropes and imagery, centuries old, recur episodically in American politics, and not only on the ideological fringes. [...] There is no doubt that [Pyon’s] noxious mailer is an affront to decency. It also fits a recent pattern among Virginia Republican candidates in this fall’s legislative elections.

The mailer, sent out by Harold Pyon and paid for by the Virginia Republican Party, displays a pattern of repeated antisemitism by Virginia Republicans in recent weeks. Youngkin’s PAC Virginia Wins is one of Pyon’s top donors. Earlier this month, Hanhs Copeland, another Glenn Youngkin ally, fired off an anti-semitic tweet directed at House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn. Over the summer, yet another Youngkin-aligned candidate compared being a conservative teacher to being Jewish in Nazi Germany. 

Glenn Youngkin and Republicans refused to condemn this behavior from another one of his allies and it’s further proof of their complete support for the despicable antisemitism that defines the Virginia GOP.

New Fox News Poll Shows How Unpopular Glenn’s Right Wing Agenda Truly Is 

Glenn Youngkin has long been peddling an unpopular right wing agenda. Now, a new Fox News poll is highlighting just how toxic Glenn Youngkin’s extreme views and policy positions are with Virginia voters. 

According to this new polling, Youngkin trails Terry McAuliffe by 50 points among Virginia voters who believe that the pandemic is the most important election issue. Particularly of note is Youngkin’s sizable deficit among Virginia parents –– who support Terry by 9+ points.

The Fox News poll comes as Glenn continues to double down on his dangerous anti-science agenda and shows just how unpopular his positions are in Virginia. See below for key insights into the poll’s findings: 

• Among voters who say the pandemic is the most important issue to their vote, Terry leads Youngkin by 50% –– 72% to just 22%. 
• An overwhelming majority of Virginians support the commonsense COVID-19 safety measures that Glenn vehemently opposes. 
  • 71% of Virginians support requiring teachers and students to wear masks in schools. 
  • 66% of Virginia voters are in favor of schools requiring teachers to be vaccinated. 
• Virginians also overwhelmingly support vaccine mandates.
