Richmond, VA – Yesli Vega, an anti-abortion extremist, is now trying to deny the existence of the audio recording of her saying women who are raped cannot become pregnant.
In a story from CBS19, Yesli Vega attempts to flat-out lie to Virginians about her dangerously false statements made in the past – a lie U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger called a “last ditch effort to save a failing campaign.”
Over the summer, Vega was asked if it would be harder for a woman who is a victim of rape to become pregnant. Vega responded:
“It wouldn't surprise me, because it’s not something that’s happening organically. You’re forcing it. The individual, the male is doing it as quickly, it’s not like, you know, and so I can see why there is truth to that. It’s unfortunate.”
“Yesli Vega can lie all she wants, but women across the Commonwealth and our country will never forget her disturbing comments concerning victims of rape,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “This November, Virginians will show Yesli Vega that her recorded comments about rape-related pregnancies and her extreme stance on abortion are disqualifying for Congress.”
