RICHMOND, VA – Nearly two weeks ago, Jen Kiggans took to the floor of the U.S. House to express her concerns over the GOP’s budget plan. But, even with those concerns unanswered by House GOP leadership, Kiggans rolled over and cast her vote for the plan.
The Department of Veterans Affairs said the GOP’s plan would cut more than 80,000 department jobs and 30,000,000 medical appointments, while increasing the disability claim backlog.
The Department of Labor said that job assistance for Veterans would be slashed.
The Department of Justice said PACT Act Veteran claims involving combat hazards like Agent Orange and burn pits would be slowed down.
Now, Jen Kiggans is lying to her constituents about what the bill contains. In an interview with WAVY TV 10, Kiggans claimed – without support from the text of the bill or objective reality – that the plan’s broad 22% spending cut somehow exempted Veterans benefits.
“Voting to cut Veterans’ benefits when you represent one of the largest Veteran and Military Family populations in the country is bad enough,” said Liam Watson, Press Secretary for the Democratic Party of Virginia, “but lying to your constituents about what you’ve just done to them is a new level of sickening.”
