RICHMOND – The Democratic Party of Virginia is excited to announce Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear as a featured speaker at the 2024 Blue Commonwealth Gala.

Governor Beshear was elected in 2019 and reelected in 2023. Since taking offices, he’s been a champion for voting rights, healthcare reform, education, and reproductive rights.

DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker shared the following statement:

"We are thrilled Governor Andy Beshear will join us in the Commonwealth to support Virginia Democrats. Nobody understands better than Andy on how to win tough elections in the South, as one of only two statewide elected Democrats in a historically red state. He has built a roadmap for what it means to be a successful Southern Democrat by standing up for education funding, restoring voting rights, and creating thousands of good-paying jobs. He's a fighter for Kentuckians and an unmatched partner in the fight to elect Democrats in Virginia and the South."
