Richmond, VA – Today the Democratic Party of Virginia released the top 5 reasons why political opportunist, Jen Kiggans is too extreme for Coastal Virginia.
Kiggans is trying to hide her extreme positions from Coastal Virginians, but her record speaks for itself.
Jen Kiggans cheered the end of Roe v. Wade and said she was “100%, unapologetically pro-life.” She supports allowing states to ban abortion without exceptions, not even to save the life of the mother. She’s voted for an anti-abortion amendment aimed to restrict crucial funds for reproductive health care that will disproportionately impact low-income Virginians, promoted false claims about “infanticide,” and consistently voted against legislation to expand access to reproductive health care.
Kiggans has opposed the bipartisan infrastructure bill that would bring more jobs, bridges, internet, and roads to Coastal Virginia, saying if she were in Congress she would have voted against it as a “message” that she was sticking with her Republican Party – not with Virginians.
On top of that, Kiggans has embraced false election conspiracy theories and was one of only four state senators who voted for a $70 million taxpayer-funded audit of the 2020 election in an attempt to overturn the will of Virginia voters. She even repeatedly refused to say who won the 2020 presidential election, supported a slew of “election integrity” bills that were aimed at restricting the right to vote, and refused to censure conspiracy theorist Amanda Chase for saying the Capitol insurrectionists were "patriots."
“Jen Kiggans extremism is a danger to Coastal Virginians,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “She wants to rip away life-saving health care, ban abortion, destroy economic growth, and toss out Virginians’ votes because she doesn’t like the outcome of the 2020 election. The people of Coastal Virginia deserve a Representative in Congress like Elaine Luria who has delivered for our veterans, Coastal families, and has been a staunch defender for reproductive rights.”
