Richmond, VA — Last night, a breaking new Washington Post report revealed that Del. John McGuire — one of Glenn Youngkin’s top endorsers — attended the deadly January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
As has been reported, Youngkin refuses to condemn the disgraced former president for his role in the January 6th insurrection. He also launched his campaign on Donald Trump’s election lies and spent months refusing to say that Joe Biden was legitimately elected. Now, Youngkin is rallying with extreme Republicans like Bob Good and continuing to push hardline voting rights restrictions.
In response to this damning news about one of Glenn Youngkin’s top Virginia surrogates, DPVA spokesman Manuel Bonder released the following statement:
“This week, the nation is turning its eyes to the heroic testimony of the Capitol Hill Police officers who defended our democracy on January 6th. Meanwhile, Glenn Youngkin is preparing to attend an ‘election integrity rally’ and leaning into the support of those who attended the insurrection.
Glenn Youngkin must reject Del. McGuire’s endorsement, disavow the dangerous extremism that is festering within his far-right coalition, and immediately withdraw from this dangerous upcoming rally. Anything less than a forceful condemnation of the January 6th insurrection and all who attended it will only further prove that Glenn is far too extreme for Virginia.”
