The Hill: Virginia Democrats troll Youngkin, Republicans ahead of rally

VIRGINIA – Yesterday, as Winsome Earle-Sears campaigned with the entire statewide GOP ticket in Vienna, a mobile billboard truck highlighting the chaos and infighting within the Virginia GOP was seen circling the event and driving around Northern Virginia.

What Virginians Are Seeing:

The Hill: Virginia Democrats troll Youngkin, Republicans ahead of rally

  •  The party is highlighting Youngkin’s previous call for Republican lieutenant gubernatorial nominee John Reid to suspend his campaign on a mobile billboard outside of Reid’s first event with the governor, gubernatorial nominee Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R) and Attorney General Jason Miyares (R).
  • The billboard features pictures of Reid and Youngkin in the shape of a broken heart, with the caption quoting Youngkin as saying “step down,” as well as Reid telling Youngkin to “cease and desist from publishing lies.”

Annandale Today: "Democratic Party of Virginia highlighted the chaos within the Republican campaign"

  • Sears, along with Gov. Glenn Youngkin, lieutenant governor candidate John Reid, Attorney General Jason Miyares, who’s running for re-election, and congressional candidate Stewart Whitson spoke at a rally at the Vienna Fire Station on July 1.
  • After losing her re-election bid, she owned Shenandoah Appliance Plumbing & Electric in Winchester, which has gotten mostly bad reviews for poor workmanship and customer service. Despite speaking out against government relief programs, her business received over $100,000 in federal aid during the pandemic.
  • A media event with Democratic leaders on June 30 called out Sears for her extreme views.
  • “It’s crystal clear that if she makes it to the governor’s mansion, she won’t fight for Virginians; she’ll just push her extreme agenda forward,” said state Sen. Saddam Azlan Salim of Fairfax.
  • “From rolling back reproductive rights and supporting a near total abortion ban to backing Trump’s attacks on Virginia jobs and Medicaid to defunding public education and being ‘morally opposed’ to marriage equality, Winsome Earle Sears is wrong for Virginia,” Salim said.
  • Sears has defended Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s federal workers and was caught on tape saying, “the media is making it out to be a huge, huge thing… and I don’t understand why.”
  • The Democratic Party of Virginia highlighted the chaos within the Republican campaign on July 1 with a mobile billboard truck that circulated around the event in Vienna and throughout Northern Virginia.
