Response to Your Recent FOIA Requests: What Sears Has Done as Lieutenant Governor

Sears refuses to tell Virginians what she has done, so the Democratic Party of Virginia has come up with a list for her

VIRGINIA – As Winsome Earle-Sears continues to refuse to tell Virginians what she is up to — from not disclosing secret flights and gifted travel to refusing to respond to FOIA requests for information on what she’s doing in her taxpayer-funded job — the Democratic Party of Virginia has put together a list of Sears’ record in office, including dismissing threats to Virginia’s economy and workforce and threatening Virginians’ fundamental freedoms (we hope this helps with future inquiries).

Took More Flights Without Disclosing Them

Left Handwritten Notes Outlining Her Extreme Agenda

  • Sears left a handwritten note that she is “morally opposed to this bill [...]” on the constitutional amendment that would protect reproductive freedom in Virginia, including contraception, abortion, and IVF.
  • Sears left a handwritten note on a bill protecting marriage equality that she is “morally opposed” to the legislation.

    • It’s highly unusual for a Lt. Governor to leave a note while signing a bill.

Dismissed Attacks on Virginia Jobs

  • Winsome Earle-Sears was caught on tape dismissing and laughing off the attacks on Virginia jobs, saying “the media is making it out to be a huge, huge thing… and I don’t understand why.”
  • In a CNN interview, when asked if she supports Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s jobs, Winsome Earle-Sears refused to answer and dismissed the jobs cuts, saying she wants “to talk about real issues” instead.

Cheered on Trump’s Tax Bill That Will Strip Virginians of Health Insurance

  • Sears praised Trump’s tax bill saying it “does so many great things” as it will strip 350,000 Virginians of their healthcare and put six rural hospitals at risk of closing.
  • Winsome Earle-Sears’ has also repeatedly lied, saying she can use Virginia’s “rainy day” reserve to cover the Medicaid cuts despite the math not adding up.
