U.S. Senate candidate Scott Parkinson says he would vote for Lindsey Graham’s legislation to rip away abortion rights from every woman across the country

Richmond, VA — In an appearance on the John Fredericks Radio Show this morning, anti-choice extremist Scott Parkinson announced that he would vote for legislation to enact a national abortion ban if elected to the U.S. Senate.

[40:45] John Fredericks: If Lindsey Graham, if you were in the Senate, and Graham had that bill up, and you had to hit the red light, or the green light, what button would you hit on that on the 15 week federal law?

[40:58] Scott Parkinson: Yeah, I mean, the issue with that is the bill is never going to be brought forward unless you can get cloture. So you need to have 60 votes in the Senate to stop the obstruction that's…

[41:09] John Fredericks: Political answer, would you vote yes or no?

[41:11] Scott Parkinson: I would vote for the legislation, because it would ultimately protect life.

Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker issued the following statement in response:

“Scott Parkinson just told Virginians, in his own words, something that should be no surprise – he would be an automatic ‘yes’ vote for a national abortion ban. At a time when Virginia now stands alone as the only state in the South without an abortion ban and Governor Youngkin continues his push to ban abortion in our commonwealth, it is more critical than ever for Virginia to have champions for reproductive freedom in the U.S. Senate. Fortunately, an overwhelming majority of Virginians are pro-choice, and they will reject Parkinson’s toxic anti-choice extremism in 2024.”

A recent CNU poll found that over 70% of Virginians are against additional abortion restrictions. Scott Parkinson has a documented history of opposing a woman’s right to choose:

  • Parkinson celebrated the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
  • Parkinson called abortion “murder.”
  • Parkinson has refused to answer whether he supports abortion exceptions for rape, incest, and health of the mother.
