“I will bring the same focus on election security to the national level.” - Sen. Kiggans

Richmond, VA – Sen. Jen Kiggans has sprinted to the far-right fringes of the Republican Party and fully embraced the false narrative of the 2020 stolen election, known as the “Big Lie,” in order to court voters in a contentious primary against America First endorsed candidate Jarome Bell. Kiggans introduced and supported legislation under the false claims of election fraud and recently doubled down on efforts to appease the far-right with conspiracy theories, saying, “I will bring the same focus on election security to the national level.”

Here is Sen. Kiggans’s disturbing pattern of fully embracing 2020 election conspiracies:

• Was one of only 3 Republicans who voted to spend $70 million Virginia taxpayer dollars on false claims of election fraud,
• Refused to say who won the 2020 presidential election, embracing the fiction that the 2020 election was stolen,
• Supported a slew of “election integrity” bills which were aimed at restricting the right to vote and appeal to far-right conspiracy theorists,
• Refused to censure conspiracy theorist Amanda Chase for saying the Capitol insurrectionists were "patriots."

“It didn’t take long for Sen. Kiggans and her political ambitions to undermine America’s democracy,” said DPVA spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “Coastal Virginians deserve a representative in Congress like Rep. Elaine Luria who delivers for veterans, military families and small businesses while Sen. Kiggans spends her time catering to the most fringe, extreme wings of the Republican Party.”
