RICHMOND, VA - The Democratic Party of Virginia today announced that Senator Cory A. Booker of New Jersey will be the keynote speaker at the party’s signature annual event, the Blue Commonwealth Gala, which will be held on the evening of Saturday, June 16th, at the historic Richmond Main Street Station. Senator Booker will be joined by Governor Ralph Northam, former Governor Terry McAuliffe, U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, Attorney General Mark Herring, and many other Democratic elected officials and party leaders from across the Commonwealth.
“The Blue Commonwealth Gala will celebrate our party’s momentum, energy, and commitment to the core values that make us Democrats,” said DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker. “Senator Booker, from his dynamic mayoral leadership turning around the City of Newark to his current work laying out a strong, progressive vision in the Senate countering the destructive Trump agenda, embodies the passion and excitement that make the Democratic Party poised for great victories in 2018 and beyond. Coming off of our historic victories in last November’s election, we could not be more thrilled to have Senator Booker keynote this year’s Blue Commonwealth Gala as we work to re-elect Senator Tim Kaine and take a leading role in turning the U.S. House of Representatives blue.“
