RICHMOND, VA – After 48 years in Virginia’s General Assembly, Senator Dick Saslaw announced his intention to retire at the end of his current term. In response to his decision to retire, Susan Swecker, the Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Virginia released the following statement:
“Senator Dick Saslaw has been a steadfast presence throughout my career in Virginia politics. He’s not only been a source of incredible strength, intellect, and integrity, but a deep well of wit, wisdom, and humor.
I have the high honor of calling him a close friend and mentor, and I look forward to continuing the fight to preserve the legacy of his progress in the Virginia Senate.”
