According to a Qunnipiac University poll released today 52 percent of Virginians approve of the way Governor McAuliffe is handling his job, while only 30 percent disapprove. The Governor's high approval is particularly significant following the divisive Presidential election.
The numbers also highlight that the substantial majority of Virginians are satisfied with the direction the Commonwealth is headed. The poll notes that 67 percent of Virginians are either very or somewhat satisfied with the way things are going as opposed to only 32 percent who are somewhat or very dissatisfied.
The results are a clear indication that Virginians recognize the drastic improvement the Commonwealth has experienced under Governor McAuliffe's leadership. Through his three years in office, Virginia has made substantial progress diversifying the economy and stimulating job creation. Those efforts have paid off with more than 182,000 new jobs, a drop in unemployment from 5.4% to 4.2%, and a record $14.22 billion in capital investment.
The poll released today also reinforces Hillary Clinton's five-point victory in Virginia and every other statewide victory for democrats since 2012. Virginians across the Commonwealth emphatically support the economic vision and policy goals of the Democrat party which is why they have won 7 straight statewide elections.
