VA GOP Congressional Delegation Backs Accused Felon George Santos

by Democratic Party of Virginia

RICHMOND, VA – Yesterday, embattled Congressman George Santos received the backing of the entire Virginia GOP congressional delegation as he staved off expulsion from the U.S. House of Representatives after being charged by a 13-count felony indictment.

Santos, who was released on a $500,000 bail after being charged with wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and making false statements to the U.S. House, faced a bill from Democrats calling for his removal from the U.S. House.

“Just a few weeks after voting to gut Veterans’ healthcare, Virginia’s GOP congressional delegation just voted to let George Santos keep his,” said Liam Watson, Press Secretary for the Democratic Party of Virginia. “Republicans are laser-focused on protecting their own party’s ranks at any cost, even if it means selling out Virginians and the dignity of the U.S. House in the process.”
