RICHMOND, VA — Democratic Party of Virginia Chair Susan Swecker released the following statement on the results of today's Democratic primary in Virginia's 5th Congressional district:
“Tonight Cameron Webb got one step closer to becoming the first Black physician elected to Congress. He ran a strong campaign focused on healthcare and equality, and I’m confident that he’ll be a formidable opponent against Bob Good. I want to thank all of the Democrats who ran for this seat. Now it’s time to unite behind our nominee and get to work flipping this district blue in November,” said DPVA Chair Susan Swecker.
Webb will face off against Bob Good, a right-wing extremist who won the GOP nomination after Republicans decided incumbent Congressman Denver Riggleman wasn't bigoted enough against the LGBTQ+ community.
