Virginia Republicans Vote Against Emergency Action to Address Baby Formula Shortage

by Democratic Party of Virginia

All Virginia Republican members of Congress last night voted against a bill to address emergency of baby formula shortages

Richmond, VA – The Virginia Democratic Party released the following statement after all Virginia Republicans in Congress voted against the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act late last night, which would provide emergency funding to address the shortage of infant formula in the United States. Every Virginia Democrat voted for the bill.

“As Democrats are moving quickly to pass legislation that would help families and address the emergency shortage of baby formula, Virginia Republicans are all talk and no action when it comes to making sure we have the resources necessary to deal with this shortage. This vote is yet another example of how Virginia Republicans aren’t interested in actually taking action to address the current formula shortfall and prevent this from happening again – they’re more interested in using Virginia families’ struggles for their own political gain and pushing their radical, ultra-MAGA agenda. While Virginia Republicans are pointing fingers and voting against solutions, Democrats are laser-focused on providing the resources to help Virginia address the infant formula shortage, and working to lower costs on everything from gas to groceries.”

This “no” vote comes after Republicans claim they are pro-life but are actively working against solutions to feed babies. But this is nothing new, earlier this year 193 House Republicans, including all Virginia Republicans, voted against capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month, while every Virginia Democrat supported the bill. Additionally, every congressional Republican voted against the American Rescue Plan, which has saved Virginians money on everything from their health care premiums to rent or mortgage to child care costs, and more.
