WINSOME, LOSE SOME: Closing in on 100 Days Until Election Day, Sears Touts Record of Selling Out Virginians’ Jobs and Healthcare

by DPVA Press

VIRGINIA – As the Commonwealth continues to brace for the fallout of the Trump tax bill that Winsome Earle-Sears praised and the attacks on Virginia jobs Sears backed, Virginians know Sears only cares about appeasing Trump and enacting her extreme and dangerous agenda.

SETTLING THIS WEEK’S SCORE

Winsome’s Wins:

  • 100 Day Countdown: Closing in on 100 days from Election Day, Winsome Earle-Sears won’t have to try and hide from her extreme record of cheering on Donald Trump’s threat to Virginians’ livelihoods and healthcare, attacking Virginians’ reproductive rights, and stripping funding from Virginia schools that much longer.
  • Pen Pals: New reporting from Virginia Mercury details how hundreds of Virginia Republicans and Democrats came together to call out Winsome Earle-Sears’ extreme record attacking reproductive rights, and committed to voting for Abigail Spanberger, a leader who will protect Virginia women's fundamental freedoms, in an open letter addressed to Sears.

Winsome’s Losses:

  • Roanoke Calls Out Sears: In Roanoke, Virginians called out Sears’ for praising Donald Trump’s tax bill that will take healthcare away from 322,000 Virginians and force rural hospitals to close.
  • Sears Fails Workers: In a letter to Inside NOVA, a fired federal worker called Sears out for downplaying Donald Trump’s attacks on federal jobs and then complaining that they were hurting her campaign.
  • Unemployment: As Sears cheers on the attacks on Virginia jobs, new reporting from 8 News Richmond and the Richmond Times-Dispatch show that Virginia was the only state to see unemployment rise in June, and the Commonwealth’s unemployment rate reached the highest it has in four years. June marks the sixth consecutive month that unemployment has risen in Virginia.

As Virginians across the Commonwealth are stripped of health care and rural hospitals are forced to close, this week was just more proof that with Winsome, it’s Virginians who stand to lose the most.

  • Serious Concerns: New polling reported by Politico finds that the majority of Virginia voters have “serious concerns” about Winsome Earle-Sears’ support of Donald Trump’s tax bill. The polling also finds Sears’ support for the bill’s health care cuts is deeply unpopular with voters.
  • Medicaid Cuts Shape Gov Race: NBC and Virginia Scope highlighted how Medicaid cuts have become a major issue in the Governor’s race, as the majority of Virginia voters oppose the Trump tax bill that Winsome Earle-Sears has backed.
