Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker released the following statement about Delegate Rob Bell's announcement that he will run for Attorney General.

"Delegate Rob Bell fits into the mold of extreme and unsuccessful candidates for statewide office that Virginia Republicans have run in recent years. Bell’s record includes support for the outrageous transvaginal ultrasound bill, 'personhood' legislation that would outlaw common forms of birth control, and strident opposition to marriage equality. Rob Bell would return to the Cuccinelli approach in the Attorney General's office: out of step with Virginia's mainstream and the law.

"We have an Attorney General in Mark Herring who is working with law enforcement every day to keep our communities safe and promote justice, equality and opportunity for all Virginians. In 2017, Virginians will be even less interested in the extreme agenda that Rob Bell represents."
