In a one-on-one interview with WRIC this week, our Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax laid out his vision for increased economic opportunity and security in the Commonwealth.
“When voters hear ‘Justin Fairfax,’ I want them to think economic opportunity. I want them to think of them rising,” he said.
Fairfax said he wanted to see more people in higher-paying jobs, expressing support for a $15-dollar minimum wage as well as more training for people seeking to better their careers. Fairfax also called for a Student Loan Refinancing Authority to help people saddled by student debt lower their interest rates.
“It’s incredibly high and that stifles what young people in particular can do,” said Fairfax. “It delays them in buying a home, it delays them getting access to capital to start and grow a small business.”
“Voters have a clear choice in the Lieutenant Governor’s race this November,” said Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker. “Former federal prosecutor Justin Fairfax will work to expand economic opportunity and security for all people. Meanwhile, dark money lawyer Jill Vogel will instead remain focused on restricting women’s rights and blocking access to affordable health care.”
