Ed Gillespie: “I Would Sign A Bill That Does Not Have Taxpayer Funding Go To Planned Parenthood.”
Today, Ed Gillespie finally set the record straight on how far he will go to undermine a woman’s right to choose in the Commonwealth.
In a video at a Women for Gillespie event, Gillespie said he “would sign a bill that does not have taxpayer funding go to Planned Parenthood."
Defunding Planned Parenthood in Virginia is only one item on Gillespie’s extreme, anti-choice agenda. Gillespie has said he would like to see abortion be banned in the Commonwealth and he has also defended efforts to defund Planned Parenthood at the federal level.
Gillespie also supports Donald Trump’s efforts to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood clinics – which could block millions from getting preventive care including birth control, cancer screenings and STD testing and treatment, resulting in more undetected cancers and more unintended pregnancies.
DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker issued the following statement:
“The only way Ed Gillespie would support women’s health is if Planned Parenthood paid him to lobby for them.”
