DPVA Calls on Comstock to Take Stand Against Trumpcare

by Katie Baker

The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) today called on U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock to take a stand against the American Health Care Act, otherwise known as Trumpcare.

“As opposition continues to grow against the disastrous Republican health care bill, Congresswoman Comstock has remained conspicuously silent,” said DPVA spokeswoman Katie Baker. “As it stands now, Trumpcare would result in 24 million fewer Americans with health insurance. In addition to forcing Virginia seniors to pay more for their care, the bill threatens lifesaving opioid abuse and mental health services. By refusing to take a stand for fear of political retribution, Comstock is tacitly endorsing this bill and everything in it. Doctors, hospitals, insurers and the AARP have all denounced this harmful legislation; Comstock has no excuse for staying silent. Hardworking Virginia families deserve to know: Congresswoman Comstock, how will you vote?"

The Washington Post today noted that in spite of growing opposition to the bill in Virginia, Comstock was "still mum." Politico today mentioned her specifically in an article titled "the 7 kinds of Republicans who could lose their jobs over health care."
