RICHMOND, VA – Yesterday, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans endorsed the disgraced former President Donald Trump. The same disgraced former President who has shown nothing but contempt for our men and women in uniform, and made endless assaults on women. 

Donald Trump talks a big game about how great his presidency was for women and how he will “make America great again” for women. These claims could not be farther from the truth. In fact, his administration made the world more dangerous and less welcoming to women, yet, this is who Congresswoman Kiggans – a veteran, a physician, and a mother – believes is the best person to lead this Country.

“You would think that the Congresswoman who represents a District with one of the highest concentrations of active duty and retired military personnel would have the courage to stand up for them. Instead, she is showing the true stripes of today’s Republican Party, complete fealty to Donald Trump.

Further, Donald Trump failed American women – that’s not new news – but the fact that a Congresswoman, a veteran, and a mother of daughters can stand behind a man who has publically condoned sexual assault is such a disappointment. Women need to support women, and this endorsement by Representative Kiggans does not support women.

It’s a simple question Jen Kiggans needs to answer: Congresswoman, how do you tell your daughters that you support a man who a court found liable for sexually abusing one woman and being accused of assaulting over two dozen more?” said DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker.

The Virginians of the second Congressional District deserve better.”
