Yesterday, in an embarrassing episode at the Republican National Convention, Virginia Republicans once again failed to thwart Trump's ticket to the White House.
The events of the day culminated with former Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli dramatically tossing his credential to the ground in a futile act of defiance.
Things came to a head hours later when Former Governor and presidential candidate Jim Gilmore publicly rebuked Cuccinelli on Twitter for being divisive. Chairman John Whitbeck desperately tried to save face, but it's clear that the Republican Party of Virginia is imploding.
His act proves one very important point: Virginia Republicans remain divided and have once again failed to act before it was too late.
"Virginia Republicans' last-minute rebellion in Cleveland exemplifies their record of acting too late in this election," said Emily Bolton, Communications Director of the Democratic Party of Virginia. "They seem to forget that their own explosive rhetoric inadvertently fueled the Trump victory in the Virginia primary.
