Richmond, VA – In today’s debate between Representative Elaine Luria and anti-abortion extremist Jen Kiggans, Kiggans reaffirmed her radical position of ripping away women’s reproductive rights.

After months of intentionally trying to mislead Virginians about where she stands, Jen Kiggans finally came clean in September and promised she would support a nationwide federal abortion ban in Congress.

Kiggans dismissed the fears of Virginia women and women across the country, saying the issue of abortion is just a “shiny object,” claiming reproductive freedom isn’t an issue “voters really care about,” and celebrated the overturning of Roe v Wade – vowing to push for more abortion restrictions in Congress.

And as a state senator, Kiggans has made her anti-abortion stance clear. She voted for a vile anti-abortion amendment aimed at restricting crucial funds for reproductive health care that will disproportionately impact low-income Virginians, promoted false claims about “infanticide,” and consistently voted against legislation to expand access to reproductive health care. 

“Jen Kiggans unwavering support of a nationwide abortion ban is a danger to women and out of touch with Coastal Virginians,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “In today’s debate, Coastal Virginians see Kiggans for the anti-abortion political opportunist she is, and will reject her extreme agenda of ripping away women's reproductive rights this November.”
