DEBATE SPECIAL: Jen Kiggans Would Put Social Security and Medicare on the Chopping Block and Raise Health Care Prices

by Democratic Party of Virginia

Richmond, VA  If Republicans gain power, Jen Kiggans, Kevin McCarthy and Rick Scott have made it clear that Virginians’ Social Security and Medicare are on the chopping block. They even want to go a step further and repeal the Inflation Reduction Act – making health care more expensive.

Republicans like Jen Kiggans have opposed the Inflation Reduction Act – which lowers prescription drugs and health care costs. Some Republicans have already stated that they would repeal the IRA even if it means shutting down the government.

Kiggans would also put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block. Her Republican allies like Sen. Rick Scott has already introduced plans to sunset or roll back access to Social Security and Medicare. Republicans for decades have attempted to dismantle Social Security and Medicare and now they are trying again.

“Jen Kiggans, a geriatric nurse, would make healthcare more expensive for our seniors,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “The contrast could not be more clear: while Congresswoman Luria is still fighting to lower costs for families, Jen Kiggans is running on an agenda of higher premiums, higher prescription drug costs, and reduced health care options for Coastal Virginians.”
