Richmond, VA – Today, after it was reported that the NRA gave Virginia House Republicans $10,000 just a day after the Robb Elementary school mass shooting and when Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears is speaking at the NRA convention, DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker released the following statement:

“Just days after 19 elementary school children and two of their teachers were murdered in Uvalde, Virginia Republicans are choosing the gun lobby again over our kids. First, it was Lt. Governor Sears speaking at the NRA convention, now it is Virginia House Republicans accepting $10,000 from the NRA. Let’s be clear, the NRA is complacent in the face of another mass shooting and has done everything in its power to stop any attempt at making our schools, communities, and Commonwealth safer. Virginia Republicans are showing us where their true allegiances lay – not with our children, not with our families, but with the gun lobby and gun manufacturers. This is an abomination to the victims of this shooting and an embarrassment to Virginia.”
