The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) Chairwoman Susan Swecker issued the following statement regarding LuAnn Bennett’s victory in the 10th Congressional Debate:

"LuAnn Bennett continues to demonstrate that she will be an effective leader for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District. LuAnn puts her positions on education, transportation, and technology up front, unlike her opponent who fuels gridlock in Congress. LuAnn Bennett’s debate performance shows that she would bring the passion, preparedness, and determination to get things done in Congress on day one.

"On the other hand, Barbara Comstock is fundamentally out-of-touch with her constituents. She proved that when she failed to denounce Trump after the countless times he attacked Americans without hesitation. Barbara Comstock continues to be a severely partisan force in the House, and she can't hide her record of fighting against a woman’s right to choose, equal pay, and access to quality education. Virginians deserve leaders with policy solutions and a resolve to tackle the tough issues, not career partisan operatives. LuAnn Bennett is the only choice, and the best choice, to represent Virginia’s 10th district."
