Richmond, VA — Today, the Cook Political Report announced its rating of the Virginia governor’s race a toss-up. In response to this national political prognostication, DPVA Chair Susan Swecker released the following statement:

“This race will define the next chapter in our Commonwealth’s future, and there is too much on the line to allow a Donald Trump acolyte like Glenn Youngkin to drag us backwards. All of the progress we have made in Virginia –– all of the work that has been done to move our Commonwealth forward –– is on the line this November.

"From attacking Medicaid expansion and banning abortion, to prolonging the pandemic and decimating public services, Glenn Youngkin is advancing a dangerous, far-right agenda that would do immense harm to our Commonwealth. We simply cannot afford a governor hell-bent on doing to Virginia what Donald Trump did to our country.

"Over the next 39 days, Virginia Democrats will work tirelessly every single day to get out the vote and make sure we Keep Virginia Blue. There is simply too much at stake for anyone to sit on the sidelines.”
