Richmond, VA — Yesterday, a miniscule group of Republican insiders across Virginia voted to select their nominees for statewide office. Now, as the Virginia GOP begins the arduous, convoluted process of counting their rigged convention ballots, one thing is clear: the chaos is just getting started. As soon as yesterday’s rigged convention came to a close, Amanda Chase sent off a strong warning shot:
On top of her consistent threats to run as an independent, Chase has promised to demand an audit of the convention results if she does not win. For Virginia Republicans, this is an insurmountable lose-lose situation. Even if GOP insiders’ efforts to rig the process against her succeed, Chase and Trump’s dangerous, toxic, unhinged extremism is the center of gravity in the Virginia GOP — and Republicans will have to cater to this far-right base all year.
“As Virginia Republicans start this arduous vote counting process, their problems are just beginning,” said Manuel Bonder, DPVA spokesman. “Whoever emerges from this disastrous convention will face a horribly divided party and be forced to continue proving their complete allegiance to Donald Trump every single day — and they will alienate the vast majority of Virginians in the process.”
