Today, the Democratic Party of Virginia is calling on Glenn Youngkin to immediately denounce State Sen. Amanda Chase –– his top Virginia ally and campaign surrogate –– for her horrifying comments on the death threats made against Terry McAuliffe. Chase’s latest comments are the most recent example of the right wing extremism that Glenn Youngkin has fully embraced –– and it is the exact same rhetoric that led up to the violence we witnessed on Jan. 6. 

Last week, Chase made false claims that Democrats are trying to “steal” the election and attended Donald Trump’s January 6 insurrection rally with Steve Bannon. She went on to say that she has “cleared her schedule” to campaign for Glenn ahead of the November election. Chase also stated that she is working with the Youngkin campaign to further advance Trump’s election conspiracies here in Virginia. 

“Glenn Youngkin must show leadership for the first time in this campaign and immediately and forcefully denounce and disavow his top surrogate, Amanda Chase, for her despicable comments today about death threats made against Terry McAuliffe,” said DPVA spokesman Manuel Bonder. “This is the kind of rhetoric that led up to Donald Trump’s deadly insurrection. If Youngkin has an ounce of courage and leadership, he will speak up and make that clear today.”
